As part of the programming in her project Lady Scumbag 2.0, Kim Ye invited LA based artist Thinh Nguyen to do a performance. Pictured here is Nguyen speaking with students after Nguyen’s performance “Face On” in which the artist slowly applied make up while standing in front of a ring light and camera phone. In the words of the artist, “I put on successive layers of makeup, turning my skin ‘white’ without a mirror” and the artist challenged the audience to do the same and post it on social media. Following the performance was a Q&A with Ye, Nguyen and other Lady Scumbag contributors Ali Kheradyar, Vanessa Conte, and Vicki Syal. The project continues to live on via Kim Ye’s Lady Scumbag and The LSB Institute’s social media sites.
