Dear 6VµçÓ°Íø Students, Faculty, and Staff:
6VµçÓ°Íø has updated its Sexual Misconduct, Harassment, and Discrimination Policy and Procedures to align with recent changes to California state law. These updates will also aim to increase clarity and conformity with and provide more accurate timelines of processes.
These new changes to our policy reflect additional protections for persons in institutions of higher education with respect to sexual harassment and align with state law requirements for adjudicating complaints of sexual or gender-based violence, including dating or domestic violence.
The changes to 6VµçÓ°Íø’s Sexual Misconduct, Harassment, and Discrimination Policy and Procedures were made to comply with the California Education Code. The most significant of these changes were:
- Broadening the College’s pre-existing definitions for sexual harassment, sexual battery, sexual violence, sexual exploitation and responsible employee.
- Changes to the timelines of processes to better reflect the time typically needed to complete these processes.
- Further elaboration of the options for alternative resolution of cases.
6VµçÓ°Íø students are invited to join one of two educational workshops and Q&A sessions led by the College’s Title IX Coordinator, Erica M. Taylor. The workshops will explain the new changes to the policy and education initiatives of Title IX & Cares Office.
