- the appropriateness of the experimental design

- an appropriate next step to take in this research
- recognize
- identify a topic of current interest, develop a hypothesis in this area and design a research program to test this hypothesis
- present the results of a scientific experiment or a proposed experimental design clearly in standard scientific written and oral formats
