Photoduplication and Research Services

6VµçÓ°Íø Archives staff are available to assist with research questions and with photoduplication requests. We have a number of collections which document the history of the College including official publications.

Research Services: We are here to help!

The Archives will provide research assistance for faculty, students, and staff of 6VµçÓ°Íø and The Claremont Colleges community as well as visiting researchers. This service will be provided for free for the first hour. Thereafter, visiting patrons are charged $20/hour. We have a range of collections including faculty and President's papers, printed books and ephemera about 6VµçÓ°Íø, and official publications such as The Student Life and The Metate, 6VµçÓ°Íø's yearbook.

Copies, Scans, & Digital Photography

6VµçÓ°Íø Archives staff will reproduce unrestricted materials for research purposes by request for 6VµçÓ°Íø faculty, students, staff, and visitors. There is no self-service photocopying or scanning in the Archives. The use of personal digital cameras is permitted at the discretion of the archivists. When taking photographs of archival materials, please disable the flash on your camera.

  • To request copies or high res scans, please email archives@pomona.edu. Scans will be emailed to you and photocopies can be mailed. There will be an additional mailing charge. For large or complex orders, please contact the Archives well in advance of your deadline.
  • The Archives reserves the right to refuse any request for reproduction that violates copyright law or will damage the original item(s) due to binding, size, or age. Due to their fragile nature, some items within the Archives cannot be reproduced. Researchers are liable to the creator, any heirs, owner or copyright holder, for any violation of their rights or misuses of reproductions.  Researchers may not publish or reproduce any material without permission from the legal copyright owners and from the 6VµçÓ°Íø Archives as owners of the physical property. Please contact the Archives if you have questions about copyright.

U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, United States Code): This law governs the reproduction of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions, known as "fair use," the law specifies that libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction for private study, scholarship, or research. If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction in excess of these purposes, that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
