Policy for Personal Wireless Access Points
6VµçÓ°Íø, in coordination with the IT departments of all The Claremont Colleges, is deploying wireless network access in most of the campuses including residence halls. The official wireless network covers many academic areas and residence halls. When on campus, we recommend the 6VµçÓ°Íø wireless network for all 6VµçÓ°Íø students, faculty and staff.
Residence Halls
In residential buildings where ITS is providing complete coverage, students may not run their own wireless network. If students choose to bring a router to campus, ITS can register your router, but the wireless function will need to be disabled. ITS will be actively scanning for any unauthorized wireless access points to prevent interference on our system. You can continue to use the router for hooking up more than one device to your single wired ethernet jack.
