6VµçÓ°Íø acknowledges the richness of diversity and the need for inclusive spaces where all students can interact, learn, and experience various cultural perspectives. To facilitate this, 6VµçÓ°Íø provides various cultural centers and lounge spaces for community members. You can learn more about each of 6VµçÓ°Íø’s student-staffed cultural lounges below!
The Cultural Affinity Community (African Diaspora Lounge, Latinx Diaspora Lounge, & FLI Nest)
The Cultural Affinity Community (CAC) houses several 6VµçÓ°Íø cultural lounges to help students cultivate transformative relationships while exploring diverse aspects of culture. The Community offers a space for cultural connections, discussions, meetings, programming, and more. Currently, the CAC is home to the African Diaspora Lounge, Latinx Diaspora Lounge, and the FLI Nest. The Cultural Affinity Community is located on the lower level of Smith Campus Center adjacent to Dom’s Lounge.

African Diaspora Lounge
This Lounge was established in the Fall of 2024 and is designated for celebrating and exploring Black identities and cultural experiences. It is open to all students and aims to be an inclusive space where students can learn and cultivate transformative peer relationships while exploring diverse aspects of Black culture. It is located inside the Cultural Affinity Community in room 040.
Latinx Diaspora Lounge
This Lounge was established in the Fall of 2024 and is designated for celebrating and exploring Latinx identities and cultural experiences. It is open to all students and aims to be an inclusive space where students can learn and cultivate transformative peer relationships while exploring diverse aspects of Latinx culture. It is located inside the Cultural Affinity Community in room 034.
FLI Nest
This Lounge was relocated from SCC 216 to the Cultural Affinity Community in Fall 2024. The FLI Nest is designated to celebrate and explore the experiences of First-Gen/Low-income (FLI) communities. students. It is open to all students and aims to be an inclusive space where students can learn and cultivate transformative peer relationships while exploring diverse aspects of 6VµçÓ°Íø’s FLI community. It is located inside the Cultural Affinity Community in room 038.

International/Undocumented Communities Lounge
This Lounge is designated for celebrating and exploring international and undocumented community cultural experiences. It is open to all students and aims to be an inclusive space where students can learn and cultivate transformative peer relationships while exploring diverse aspects of undocumented and international cultures. This stand-alone lounge is on the lower level of Clarke V residence hall in social room 002.
Students of Color Alliance Lounge (SOCA)
This Lounge is designated for celebrating and exploring the cultural experiences of students of color. It is open to all students and aims to be an inclusive space where students can learn and cultivate transformative peer relationships while exploring diverse aspects of communities of color. This stand-alone lounge is on the lower level of Clarke V residence hall in social room 001.
Request swipe access to a Cultural Lounge
All cultural lounges are open to any 6VµçÓ°Íø student via key swipe access once requested. Use this to request key swipe access to any cultural lounge. Note: Swipe access to the cultural lounges may take up to 2 weeks to become active. While in the lounges, students must abide by the community guidelines.
Hours of Operation
All cultural lounges, including the Cultural Affinity Community, are open daily via swipe access from 8 am to midnight. In addition to individual swipe access, the lounges are staffed by student assistants who host office hours in the CAC at various hours of the day. The cultural lounges are open during those office hours without needing individual swipe access. Student office hours are posted on the door each lounge.
