Neuropsychological testing is offered in a limited capacity to students who believe they may have a disability and are in need of disability accommodations. Testing is offered in partnership with our PsyD interns from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Services are offered on a first-come first-serve basis for students who meet the following criteria:
- Must have an application on file with ARS
- Must be enrolled full-time at 6VµçÓ°Íø
- Priority will be given to financial aid recipients (verified through financial aid)
- Student's health insurance does not cover neuropsychological testing
Process to Request Disability Testing through ARS
Students who meet the criteria and wish to be tested for a disability should first with ARS. Once an application for services has been received, ARS will process the application and meet with the student to determine whether testing is necessary for services. ARS will refer students for psychological testing as appropriate. Please note this service is limited and fills up within the first week of the semester. If you are referred for testing and space is at capacity, you will be added to a wait list for the next term. Please note that obtaining disability testing does not guarantee eligibility for accommodations.
Step 1: Submit an application for ARS services.
Step 2: Student and ARS meet to determine whether testing is necessary for services.
Step 3: ARS sends referral to PsyD Interns for student disability testing as appropriate.
Step 4: Student attends Intake with Clinical PsyD Candidate.
Step 5: After testing is complete, student should request a copy of the evaluation/report (scores must be included).
Step 6: Student submits a copy the report to the Accessibility Resources and Services Office to request academic accommodations. Make sure to keep a copy or the original for your own records. ARS cannot release third-party documentation to students. Testing Outside of 6VµçÓ°Íø
For students who DO NOT meet the criteria above but are seeking psychological/LD/ADHD/TBI testing, a list of qualified treatment providers can be found below. This resource list is provided as a courtesy to students. ARS does not guarantee the accuracy of the information or is responsible for any subsequent changes. The inclusion of specific providers is not a guarantee of the quality of services. Obtaining services from these providers does not guarantee eligibility for accommodations. Students may choose to go to a provider of their choice not listed here. Please verify with the individual providers as to whether they accept your insurance prior to scheduling an appointment. These providers offer a flat cash rate for 6VµçÓ°Íø students. Students are responsible for the cost of the evaluation.

- Student should call a provider from the list of qualified professionals to schedule an appointment for an evaluation. Identify yourself as a 6VµçÓ°Íø student.
- After you’re done testing, request a copy of the evaluation/report (scores must be included)

Neuropsychological Testing and Documentation Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Does ARS provide neuropsychological testing for students who are experiencing learning difficulties?
No, ARS does not provide neuropsychological testing. However, as a courtesy, we have compiled a list of qualified professionals. Students are responsible for the cost of the evaluation. Some students may be referred for testing with the Chicago School of Professional Psychology upon meeting certain criteria.
Do the health providers on your resource list accept my insurance?
It is the student's responsibility to check if a listed health provider accepts their specific insurance before making an appointment.
If you have an HMO plan, you may contact the providers on the list that accept insurance to verify if they accept your specific plan and what your co-pay will be. If you the listed providers do NOT accept your particular insurance plan, contact your insurance company’s Member Services (their number will most likely be on the back of your insurance card) and request to see a Psychologist for learning disability testing.
If you have a PPO plan, you may be able to see any of the health providers on the list. However, you may be asked to pay the provider directly for the entire cost of the evaluation up front, then submit a claim with your insurance company in order to be reimbursed for the percentage covered by your plan. Check with your insurance company to make sure your specific plan covers psychological evaluations and the percentage of the service cost is covered.
