Over the course of the year the IIE will host different opportunities to build community among faculty, students, and staff. With each social event, our goal is to create a welcoming, informal, and interactive learning space where we come together and share in what makes 6VµçÓ°Íø such a dynamic and inclusive educational community.
Stay tuned for more information, and please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions and/or suggestions.

First Fridays for Faculty
*ATTENTION FACULTY!!*
We invite you to join us on the first Friday of every month, 3:30-5:30pm+, throughout the fall and spring semester for an afternoon/evening of rest and relaxation.
Each gathering will happen at a different location around campus, and include food, beverages, and, most importantly, hearty conversation. Reminders will be sent shortly before each event, and we look forward to having you join in on the festivities.
IDEAL Symposium
An Afternoon of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Learning
The IDEAL Symposium is a celebration of innovative learning at 6VµçÓ°Íø aimed at improving education by advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Within this space, students, faculty, and student-staff partners come together to present projects that advance DEIB in their disciplines, learning environments, and communities.
Example topics from past symposia include: initiatives highlighting oft-hidden contributions to the field by members of underrepresented groups; projects that create a more inclusive department culture and curriculum; peer mentoring and liaison programs that enhance student sense of belonging; alternative assessment models that promote greater student equity and agency for authentic learning; plus a range of projects focused on making aspects of our courses, departments, or disciplines more inclusive.
This year the IIE took special appreciation for hosting the event, and would like to extend our thanks to the students, faculty, facilities, Physics and Astronomy Department, , 6VµçÓ°Íø, and everyone else who came out in support of the event.
